The proclamation of peace on earth and goodwill toward men during the festive season is not merely a declaration of the absence of war, crime, and violence. Rather it is a state of being that transcends external circumstances. It is a gift that transforms us from within, nurturing a spirit of hope and resilience. We attain this peace through repentance and a turning away from sin, allowing the Prince of Peace to enter our hearts in the form of the Holy Spirit. As we embrace this divine peace, our lives become a testament to the enduring power of faith and love. We are called to be beacons of light, sharing kindness and compassion with those around us, and in doing so, we contribute to a world that echoes the heavenly promise of peace and goodwill. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill[e] toward men!” Luke 2:13-14
